3rd Outside event (artMRKT [CONTEMPORARY & MODERN ART FAIR] San Francisco

On May 19, 2013, with the ticket given from Tina in class on Thursday, I went to see the show. The whole show was very inspiring and widen my view on what nowadays contemporary artist made. Some are regular painting with many different approach or meaning. I talked to one worker Mirus Gallery. She informs me what kind of gallery they collected and how the artist approached their subject matter. I was amazed with 2 of the artists where Jaime Brett Treadwell used very nice neon color yet after talking to the girl, the meaning in the painting is so deeply concern about our society about gender and social issue. The other artist is Matthias Duwel, his works mostly concern with garbage that harm landscape. Yet, in his painting, Duwel never painted any shape of realistic trash only abstraction of shape that is rendered vaguely. Nonetheless, both artists' color pallet is very simple yet interesting. I love their work where it brinks up issues in our society yet the color use in the painting is very playful.
There are lots of artist using mixed media to create their work yet the regular painting with oil, ink, and acrylic is well rendered that I feel like most of the art works are valuable. One out of all of the artwork that relates to our class subject is "Datagrove" (2012) by Jason Kelly Johnson and Nataly Gatttgno. Both artists collaborate using light and sound to give an interaction with visitors. So, depending on how the visitor interaction, the magenta fibers gently pulsate and respond.
This is the picture I took from the internet. However, when it was installed in the show, the magenta light wasn't glowing as pretty as the one in the picture.
The overall show was spectacular. I walked out with lots of different ideas and learn new things. So, this class really helps me see how technology and art can work together and make something amazing.
